Corp bonds to be traded like shares on BSE

To begin with, all listed companies would be allowed to trade on the platform. "But, we are not averse to unlisted companies coming out with bonds issue for which they have to file an offer document," Rout said.

NSE brokers, who are not members of BSE, can also participate in trading of corporate bonds on a "nominal" charge, he said.

 Ashok Lahiri, chief economic adviser to the government, said the country needs a bond market for non-blue chip companies to provide long term funds.

Finance Ministry official Shashank Saksena suggested there should be one regulator, investor protection and market integrity and enforcement of bankruptcy laws in the corporate bond market.
