Larsen & Tourbo has reported a 86.46 per cent jump in net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2003 to Rs 83.20 crore as against Rs 44.62 crore for the corresponding period last year.

Net sales was up 9.78 per cent to RS 2135.78 crore in the first quarter of 2003-04 from Rs 1945.81 crore in the corresponding period last year. Total expenditure rose 11.13 per cent to Rs 1,992.98 crore against Rs 1793.36 crore in the June quarter 2002.

Engineering and construction division contributed around Rs 1, 308.61 crore, while cement was the next big contributor at RS 725.77 crore. The electricals and electronics business contributed Rs 202.07 crore, while others contributed Rs 101.71 crore.
