Corporates to join Maharashtra's rehab efforts

Corporate captains indicated their willingness to participate in the flood rehabilitation efforts of the state government after a call given by the state chief minister.
 
"By the end of this month we will identify rehabilitations projects that will be placed before the corporate sector. The corporates may then undertake projects of their liking. The corporate heads have indicated their willingness to assist the state government in its rehabilitation initiative," said Deshmukh.
 
He added that the projects involve resettling people who lost their houses during floods.
 
They will be provided new houses constructed on state government land.The projects also include reconstruction of damaged public schools.
 
Today's meeting between the state government and corporates was attended by Swati Piramal, Sashi Ruia (Essar), Nikhil Meswani (RIL), Jamshed Godrej, Ashok Samant (REL), Ashok Hinduja, Ravi Pandit,Sanjay Kapadia (Indian merchants Chamber), RK Krishna Kumar (Tata), Venugopal Dhoot and SR Chandrashekar of Bharat Forge.
