Cummins to sell exhaust business to Global Tube

To focus on key emission solutions business Cummins Inc. has announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell its exhaust business to Global Tube, a portfolio company of Wind Point Partners, a private equity firm in Chicago. Consequently, the joint venture partners in India; Cummins India Limited and Cummins Filtration Inc. USA will be divesting their shares in Cummins Exhaust India Limited, company said in a statement.

"The sale to Global Tube will allow us to bring focus to the company’s Emission Solutions (CES) business, which specialises in providing a range of after treatment solutions and technologies to control emissions in diesel engines. With ever tightening emission standards there is a need to place greater emphasis and resources on the deployment of after treatment technology and products that are critical to Cummins’ growth strategy," said Anant J. Talaulicar, president of the Components Group, Cummins Inc. and managing director of Cummins Group in India. The Emission Solutions business is part of the Components Group. The new business will operate under the name Nelson Products, with its headquarters in Stoughton, Wisc. The business is expected to transfer to Global Tube by end of March 2011 along with Cummins’ acoustic exhaust operations.
