The app helps customers to design their homes or rooms on a real-time basis using the new tool that works on augmented reality.
Augmented reality is a technology that provides a live real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory inputs such as sound, video, graphics and GPS data.
With the help of the new app, users can visualise and put their entire room together before buying the furniture and decor products for their homes, the company said.
After selecting a background and flooring that best resemble those of the room, the users can virtually select products from Urban Ladder’s collections to see how the chosen items look together before one decides to buy them. The images of the products can be rotated and placed according to the space that best suits a user’s taste.
The app also provides the option of buying all the items or particular items in the look that they have self-created or choose from the looks that other users have created and shared for inspiration.
“We have been observing a growing trend of customers opting to buy furniture for an entire space rather than seeking individual pieces, and that led to the decision of building this new feature” said Rajiv Srivatsa, chief operating officer and co-founder, Urban Ladder.
According to Srivatsa, the feature was developed by a team of four in three months. The upgrade has already been rolled out for Android devices and will soon be available for iOS devices as well. The app has seen 500,000 downloads since its launch in January this year.

The company is also planning to add new features that will help users see how products fit in their space, help them interact with other look creators to encourage social sharing and get personalised recommendations while creating their looks.
Currently, Urban Ladder has presence in 17 cities and looks to cover 30 cities by the year-end.
