Made-in-India commercial vehicles were in demand in the foreign markets, and exports zoomed 75.6% to 26,429 units as against 15,051 units in the 11 months of the last fiscal. Overseas demand for Indian automobiles grew nearly double of that of the domestic market with exports in the 11 months of the current fiscal growing 30.5% to 5,57,802 units as against 4,27,315 units exported in the corresponding period last fiscal.According to figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), domestic offtake increased only 16.1% to 71,73,309 units betwen April-February '04-'05 as against 61,75,285 units in the same period last fiscal."Three-wheelers was the only segment that witnessed a fall in export numbers declining 5.7% to 60,604 units as against 64,320 units in the same period last fiscal," a SIAM release said.Passenger car exports clocked a growth of 34.1% to 1,45,993 units as against 1,08,843 units exported in April-February '04.
