d Line India Private Ltd rolled out its first outlet in association with channel partners in Chandigarh today. The outlet "Floor Square" would have a range of flooring solutions, washroom fittings, handrails, wardrobes and hand levers for the niche market.

Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director Renu Kathuria said the company focused mainly on premium commercial and residential projects.

"We have supplied our products in the houses of celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar and Chiranjivi and now want to focus on small towns for our products."

Umesh Ghai, managing director of "Floor Square", said the growing commercial and housing sector in the state provided ample opportunities for flooring and other home accessories.

Also, wooden flooring would be cheaper and cost between Rs 60 per sq ft and Rs 500 sq ft with installation. On the contrary, marble and vitrified flooring cost more with installation and was a time consuming job.

"We also provide consultancy to buyers, and according to the space and budget offer them more cost-effective solutions," he said.

He added that the new generation consumers preferred wooden floors more than the conventional marble flooring as it was safer for children and the elderly.

He said the market in the north was growing at a rate of about 25 per cent. Ghai has plans to open more outlets in Punjab. "We would be present in Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Amritsar by the end of next year."

He said the expansion of ITES and the financial sector in and around Chandigarh provided them a huge market. "We also expect to get good business from the new projects in hospitality and shopping malls in the region," he added.

Ghai has a turnover of Rs 3 crore and has supplied products to 5 star hotels like Taj Chandigarh and Mountview.
