Dabur appoints former DIPP secretary as independent director

FMCG major Dabur today announced the appointment of Ajay Dua, a former secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) as an independent director on its board.

The company said in a statement that with this appointment the number of independent directors in its board has risen to six.

"Corporate governance and transparency in action are of high priority for Dabur...The induction of Dua as an independent director supports our efforts towards improving transparency in operations," Dabur India Group Director P D Narang said.

Dua was given senior assignments in the Government of Maharashtra and the Government of India, including as Managing Director of industrial promotion corporations and Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Power.

He was also the Secretary in the DIPP between July 2005 and July 2007. He is currently a senior business advisor/board member of several multinational corporations, the company said.
