The manufacturing facility will also house a research and development (R&D) centre and a captive solar plant. This is the first roll-out in the manufacturing sector in Tamil Nadu, coming after the launch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' pitch.
"With India being a high-growth market for us, we had kickstarted our Make in India initiative two years ago after assessing the tremendous potential in the Indian manufacturing sector," said Niels B Christiansen, president and chief executive officer of Danfoss Global, in a statement.

Christiansen added the facility has come up at the right place and at the right time, and believes this would enable Danfoss India operations to cater to the export demand arising from Asia-Pacific.
The facility also has 1-Mw solar power plant generating 1.5 million units per annum, sufficient to meet 10 per cent of electricity requirements of the plant. Danfoss, through its focus on local manufacturing and R&D in the new campus, plans to make India a manufacturing-cum-export hub for its regional subsidiaries.
