Design software firm Dassault Systemes today said it will acquire US-based software company Apriso for about $205 million (Rs 1,152 crore) in an all cash deal.

The deal is expected to be completed by July this year.

Apriso expands Dassault's 3DEXPERIENCE (3DS) footprint across multiple industries like consumer goods, packaged goods, high tech, life sciences, transportation and mobility, aerospace and defense and industrial equipment, it added.

"Dassault Systemes and Apriso have entered into a definitive acquisition agreement whereby Dassault Systemes will acquire Apriso in a cash transaction. The transaction is expected to be completed in July 2013," the firm said.

The completion of the acquisition is subject to normal closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, Dassault added.

On the importance of the acquisition for the firm's India operations, Dassault Systemes India Managing Director Chandan Chowdhury told PTI: "The acquisition is going to augment the DELMIA brand (offering digital manufacturing solution including optimisation of logistics) in India."

It will merge Dassault Systemes 3DEXPERIENCE PLATFORM and Apriso solutions to deliver a more responsive and agile production system for manufacturing industries, he added.

"With the acquisition of Apriso, 3DS plans to target big manufacturing companies in India. Many of the Apriso solutions sold are deployed in emerging and fast-growing markets like Brazil, Russia, India and China," Chowdhury said.

Indian companies with multi-site manufacturing facilities will be able to get real-time visibility and control over their business processes performed by plants and suppliers, he added.

The solution will help Indian manufacturing players with global presence, establish a common set of operational standards that can be managed holistically on a global basis, while continuously improving and meeting local market and customer needs, he said.

Dassault Systemes provides 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock-Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions.
