Datacraft, an IT services and solutions vendor, on Friday announced the launch of their Global Service Centre (GSC) in Bangalore.

The centre will provide support services to local, regional and eventually to global customers. It will span a floor space of 11,000 square feet and can accommodate in excess of 100 call and help desk agents.

"We started out by having several service centres for APAC. All those centres, including one in Singapore, have been consolidated into this centre in Bangalore. At present, including Bangalore, we have five GSCs including one in US, UK and Australia. Eventually, we will consolidate functions of all of these into the Bangalore centre. But that's also dependent on how we can provide for language support, other than English, out of the city," said Bill Padfield, CEO of Datacraft.

He added that while some people from the other GSCs whose functions have been consolidated into Bangalore centre will be relocated, some of them will be asked to leave, which means "jobs out in other countries, jobs in India" said Padfield. These would add upto close to 100.

Very careful to say that the centre did not necessarily signify call centre operations, Padfield said, "This is a management centre. We will be doing call centre work but that will be a small part of the operations. There will also be quite a bit of help desk and management happening from the place."

The centre will offer support to Datacraft managed services customers.
