Deepak Fertilisers, Indo Rama, Merck quarterly results

Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals Corporation (DFPCL) net slipped 9 per cent to Rs 22.58 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year compared with Rs 24.79 crore recorded in the previous corresponding quarter of 2006-07.
 
Net sales improved 32 per cent to Rs 219.79 crore compared with Rs 166.67 crore in the previous comparable period. Its shareholders also approved 30 per cent dividend at the 27th annual general meeting held in Pune today. Profit before tax (PBT) went up by 3.3 per cent to Rs 34.51 crore (Rs 33.38 crore). Indo Rama Synth net up marginally
 
Polyester manufacturer Indo Rama Synthetics (IRSL) net profit rose marginally by 4.13 per cent at Rs 2.27 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, compared with Rs 2.18 crore in the previous comparable period. However, total income increased by 54 per cent to Rs 729.04 crore (Rs 473.37 crore).
 
"The board of directors at its meeting held today has approved the draft scheme of amalgamation of Indo Rama Petrochemicals (IRPL) with Indo Rama Synthetics," O P Lohia, chairman and managing director, IRSL, said. As per the scheme, the swap ratio of 10:16 was approved as IRPL shareholders having 10 shares would receive 16 shares in Indo Rama Synthetics, he added.
 
Merck net slips 80.6%
 
Pharma major Merck Ltd has posted a net profit slipped 80.6 per cent to Rs 16.3 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007, compared with Rs 84.2 crore for the comparable previous quarter. Total income (net of excise) increased by 4.1 per cent to Rs 91.1 crore (Rs 87 crore).
 
Merck informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that the figures for the previous year or quarter are not comparable, due to sale of its life science and analytics (excluding bulk drugs) business with effect from April 1, 2006. Merck Ltd had strategically sold its life science and analytics, excluding bulk drugs, businesses to Merck Specialities Pvt Ltd, an unlisted subsidiary floated by Merck in India.
