The credit card used by commuters for travel in Delhi Metro has won the OSCAR award for 2008 for innovative concepts in service category.
The 'Delhi Metro-Citibank' credit card was considered the best amongst all other nominations in the 'Innovation in Service' category at the OSCAR award ceremony held on December 17 in Paris, a release issued by Citi Bank said here today.
The award, which acknowledge and reward the most innovative card products, is set up jointly by Publi-News, a Paris based specialist banking publication, and Altenor, an international consulting firm specialising in card strategy.
The card, which was launched in May this year, is the first two-in-one transit credit card, combining the benefits of a Metro Smart Card with advantages of Citibank credit card, the release claimed.
"The award was an acknowledgment of the global benchmark in innovation and service the Metro card has set," Sandeep Bhalla, Business Manager (Cards) of Citibank, said.
Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said the card provides a unique and innovative service to "the growing family" of Metro commuters.
