While online shoppers in Delhi searched most for home appliances, those in Mumbai were more tilted towards shoes.
People in Kolkata favoured entertainment products like books, music, movies and video games, but in Chennai and Bangalore, consumers reached out the most for mobile phone and apparel accounting for more than 60% of the overall searches.

The top five cities that searched on Junglee.com were Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. Also, online search traffic from tier II cities and mini towns such as Pune, Gurgaon, Noida and Chandigarh increased by 120% year-on-year.
The report identifies a shift in consumer preference with respect to pricing. Most consumers shifted towards higher-priced models in the mobiles and tablet category. However, in watches, a reverse consumer behaviour was witnessed. Consumers have shown a preference towards watches in the lower price band in 2013 compared to 2012. The demand for highly priced watches fell by 100% compared to last year.
“Consumers in India are increasingly adapting to online shopping. One in four online shoppers now visits a comparison shopping site before completing a purchase on a seller website,” said Mahendra Nerurkar, general manager, Junglee.com.
Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement prompted an increase of 11 times in searches on him, which increased to 15 times by the run up to the final test match. Also, global product launches such as the Google Nexus range of phones and tablets were searched by many users when they were launched in the United States.
