Delphi-TVS, a joint venture between the US-based Delphi Corporation and the TVS group, will invest Rs 500 crore in the next five years to manufacture common rail fuel injection (CRFI) systems besides expanding its manufacturing capacities for rotary diesel pumps at its existing plant near Chennai."The CRFI technology would offer users enhanced driving experience even while meeting the increasingly stringent future emission standards," T K Balaji, managing director of the Rs 300 crore Delphi-TVS, said today.He added that the company plans to expand its engineering capabilities by setting up a new state-of-the-art technical centre at its existing facility in Mannur - about 30 kms from the city. Ratan Tata, chairman of the Tata group, would lay the foundation stone for the centre at a function in Mannur tomorrow.The proposed centre, to become operational by next year, would complement the current engineering facilities and focus on developing new products and applications to meet future emission norms in the fast-evolving scenario.The function tomorrow would also mark the completion of one million rotary pumps at the plant since its inception in 1990. "The company is poised for rapid growth in the future with the second million pumps expected to be delivered in the next three to four years,' Balaji said.
