Dhanalakshmi Bank net up 102% at Rs 57 cr in FY09

Private sector, Dhanalakshmi Bank, has clocked a 101.86% jump in its net profit at Rs 57.45 crore in FY09 as against Rs 28.46 crore in the year-ago period.      

Its operating profit rose from Rs 44.50 crore to Rs 87.90 crore during the period, a release issued here today stated.      

The total income of the bank increased from Rs 354.52 crore in FY08 to Rs 487.77 crore in FY09, the release said.      

The bank's special thrust on fee-based business has paid off with its non-interest income increasing 88.82% at Rs 79.36 crore in FY09 as compared Rs 42.03 crore in the year-ago period, the release said.      

The south-based bank's total deposits increased from Rs 3,608.42 crore in FY08 to Rs 4,968.81 crore in FY09, up 37.70%.

Dhanalakshmi Bank's total advances moved up from Rs 2,163.73 crore to Rs 3,245.30 crore during the same period, up 49.99%.      

"The bank has successfully surpassed the norms prescribied by the Reserve Bank of India in respect of the share of priority sector advances and agriculture in total credit," the release said.      

The bank continued its keen involvement in social uplift through micro-finance during the year with outstandings under this sector increasing from Rs 92.08 crore as on March 31, 2008, to Rs 124.40 crore in FY09, up 35%, the release said.
