Dharani Sugars and Chemicals net profit rose by 10 times in the second quarter ended September 30, 2009 to Rs 32.77 crore from Rs 3.15 crore in the same period last year.
Net sales rose to Rs 131.19 crore from Rs 37.43 crore. Sugar business contributed Rs 116.83 crore as compared to Rs 35.38 crore a year, an increase of 33 per cent. Distillery business income rose to Rs 11.17 crore from Rs 5.29 crore.
The company had attributed the increase in the sales and profit to the strong recovery in the sugar market, during 2008-09, the company returned to profit track with a net profit of Rs 10.05 crore against a loss of Rs 7.86 crore in the previous year.
