Indian cricket team captain M S Dhoni has filed a suit in Calcutta High Court against a city-based sports management company accusing it of breach of contract by not paying him for advertisements.
Dhoni's counsel have filed the suit before Justice Nadira Patheriya demanding Rs 8 crore from Gameplan Sports which deals in sponsorship, advertisement and endorsements.
Dhoni, also the captain of IPL team Chennai Super Kings, alleged that the company had realised money from sponsors for advertisements in which he appeared, but has not paid him.
Dhoni's solicitors Sharma Kajaria and Company claimed that his agreement with Gameplan expired in January 2008, but it continued to collect money from sponsors without paying him up.
The suit was moved on Thursday before Justice Patherya, who has directed that notice be issued to Gameplan and that the matter would be heard on April 23.
Gameplan chief Jeet Banerjee refused to comment when contacted.
