Dilip Venkatraman steps down as CNN IBN and IBN7 CEO

Says he wanted to pursue his independent entrepreneurial interests

After seeing two high profile exits from CNBC-TV18 when Udayan Mukherjee and Mitali Mukherjee put in their papers last month, it is now CNN IBN and IBN7 CEO Dilip Venkatraman's turn to bid adieu to TV18. Venkatraman put in his papers at the network yesterday saying he wanted to pursue his independent entrepreneurial interests.
 
Venkatraman joined the network in 2005 as director-marketing and was promoted to CEO in 2010. in his absence, Ajay Chacko, COO, Network18 will execute the responsibilities of CNN IBN and IBN7 CEO.  
 
B.Sai Kumar, Group CEO, Network18 said “Dilip has played a pivotal role in building our general news network, right from the outset. Today, CNN-IBN, IBN7 and IBN-Lokmat are benchmark brands in the general news space and Dilip has contributed significantly to laying such a strong foundation for the future. Venkatraman career spans over 20 years during which he has worked with India Today Group and Zee Network apart from TV18.
 
Network18 recently launched the integrated newsroom named ‘Network18 Business Newsroom’ which will comprise of CNBC-TV18, CNBC Awaaz, CNBC-TV18 Prime HD and Moneycontrol.com.  It is led by Senthil Chengalvarayan who works closely with R Jagannathan, editor-in-chief of Network18’s web and publishing stable which includes Moneycontrol.com, Sanjay Pugalia, Editor-In-Chief, CNBC Awaaz and the editorial leads at CNBC-TV18.
