Opens office at Rajkot
DLF Pramerica Life Insurance Company (DPLI) opened its third office in the state at Rajkot, marking the company's entry into the Saurashtra region.
"The company is strengthening its presence in Gujarat as it is very important state for us. We are not only focusing on urban areas but also on villages. There is good opportunity for growth in small towns and villages. It is still relatively untapped areas for life insurers.", said Maninder Sood, executive vice president - head agency sales of DPLI.
DPLI is expanding its presence in the country in a phased manner. After establishing a strong presence in North India, it ventured into West India in March last year, starting with Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Within the short span of a year company has done business worth Rs 6 crore and has sold 2300 policies in the state.
"We have got a very positive response in Gujarat which encouraged us to expand our network in the state.", Sood said adding that the company has no set targets. "The company does not want to chase any target. We will try to convince people that premium on life insurance policies are not only about tax benefits or savings," he added.
DPLI is a joint venture between DLF Limited, a leading real estate company in India and Prudential International Insurance Holdings Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Prudential Financial Inc, a US based financial services provider.

The company started operations in India in September 2008 and currently has a network of 36 branch offices and 70 branch units across Delhi NCR, Haryana, Punjab and Gujarat.
Its product portfolio includes nine insurance products.
