Sri Lanka-based Dipped Products PLC announced its foray into the Indian gloves market by launching its household gloves under the name Palmrite gloves here today.

Announcing the launch, DPL Marketing Manager Indika Prasad Kulathunga said they ranked among the top four glove manufacturers in the world. DPL has presence in 65 countries (including India) and is available with leading retail chains.

He said that DPL caters to five per cent global demand of general purpose and industrial gloves and 50 percent of their exports were being made to European countries. The company also contributes 1.9 per cent GDP towards Sri Lanka's economy.

In India, the Palmrite range of gloves would be marketed by Optimum Marketing Metrics (OMM). India is the second country in the sub-continent to get imported gloves from DPL after Pakistan.

Talking to Business Standard, Kulathunga said initially the company will promote only household gloves in India but by the year end, they will export industrial gloves targeting, in total, around 100,000 pairs of gloves per month including 60,000 industrial gloves.
