Dr Agarwal's Group launches eye care centre at Cuttack

Chennai-based Dr Agarwal’s Group of Eye Hospitals, which opened its maiden project in Odisha at Cuttack on Tuesday, plans to set up seven more branches in the state with an investment of Rs 20 crore.

“So far we have invested Rs 10 crore as part of Phase-I, in this 80000 sq ft multi-facility hospital at Cuttack which is our 54th branch in the country. We are planning to invest another Rs 20 crore in 2-3 years to set up seven secondary and secondary-plus-type eye care centres across the state in cities like Berhampur, Rourkela etc,” said Dr Agarwal’s Group chairman and managing director Amar Agarwal.

The facility at Cuttack, which was inaugurated by chief minister Naveen Patnaik, will have all the latest technology and equipment to treat all types of eye ailments, including refraction error correction, cataract surgery, advanced Lasik, retinal disorder, pediatric ophthalmology, orbit oculoplasty, neuro ophthalmology, contact eye lens, yoga eye exercise and squint surgery etc.

Agarwal said, tribals will be provided free treatment through our mobile vans and in case of operations, the patients will be operated at the base hospital.

The group also launched an autonomous unit namely Padma Bhusan Dr J Agarwal’s Vision Foundation to provide eye care services in tribal and underprivileged areas of Odisha.

Dr Agarwal’s Group, established in 1957, currently has 54 branches in India and one tertiary eye care centre in Mauritius and mulls further expansion in Indian Ocean region and African countries.
