Dragonair sharpens claws with HK edge

According to Tom Wright, general manager (India, Middle East, Africa & Pakistan), Dragonair is now promoting Hong Kong as the fastest route to Los Angeles, San Francisco and North Asia for Indians. One place now catching up as a tourist draw is Macao which Dragonair is promoting.

The revenue, yield and load factor are going in the right direction, said Yau, adding that the cost of ATF has spiked around 60 per cent for the airline over the last year. Fuel now makes up 40 per cent of the cost of operations of the airline.

As a promotional offer, the airline has announced a return fare of Rs 22,000 plus taxes. The airline charges Rs 62,000 plus taxes on its business class. A fuel surcharge could also be in the offing.
