Science-based products and services company DuPont India has set up an innovation centre in Pune to fuel collaboration in the automotive segment in the areas like lightweight, improved performance, sustainability, alternative drive, safety and comfort and design. The DuPont India Innovation Center is one among four new global DuPont Innovation Centers in Asia Pacific, while the other three centers in Asia Pacific are located in South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
It will act as a collaborative platform for automotive OEMs and component and system manufacturers to come together to support the Indian automotive industry.
Commenting on this, Balvinder Singh Kalsi, president - South Asia, DuPont said, "The collaboration space in the center provides an environment for our customers and partners to connect real time with our team of 9500 DuPont scientists, chemists and engineers located in 100 R&D and technical centers around the world. Leveraging the power of DuPont's global network, we can work with our customers and partners to meet the needs of the fast expanding Indian automotive industry,"
Around 50 per cent of Du Pont's business comes from the automotive sector which includes all the major OEMs across the globe. While the Innovation Center in Korea services the electronics and automotive industries, the one in Taiwan focuses on the electronics and communications markets, and Thailand's Center will be working on programs around renewable energy initiatives and products. Other centers in Latin America, Europe and North America are being planned by the company.
