After farmers and cattle breeders, its the Jetpur-based dyeing and printing industry that is facing scarcity of water due to deficient monsoon this season in Saurashtra region.
Hinting towards the gravity of the situation, industry sources maintained that they have to shutdown units in case of a further delay in rains. The dying cluster in Saurashtra have already curtailed their production by about 30-35 per cent and asked workers to stay home.
"Water is very scarce for the industry. Water is main input for dyeing and printing industry. In the present condition, we can survive for maximum one month. If it does not rain, dyeing units will have to close down their units as we do not have enough water to run our business," said Rajubhai Patel, president of Jetpur Dyeing and Printing Association.
