Santa Clara based E-Infochips Incorporation, a provider of ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) design services, embedded systems solutions and IP cores to global blue-chip technology companies, has decided to set up a $1.5 million design centre in Pune.

The design centre will be ready to execute customer projects by October this year. With this new centre, the company hopes to achieve a turnover of over $10 million by the end of 2005-2006 as compared with a turnover of over $4 million in the last financial year.

"E-Infochips is setting up the Pune design centre to meet the growing demand for ASIC and embedded services from our customers in Asia and North America. We have earmarked $1.5 million over two years and plan to set up a team of over 60 engineers in the first year of operations. I am confident that this team will enable us to continue our 60 per cent CAGR in the coming years," said Pratul Shroff, CEO, E-Infochips.

The Pune centre will focus on ASIC and embedded solutions in the areas of Storage Area Networking (SAN), wireless communication and consumer multimedia applications. The company will also execute two major design centre outsourcing projects for ASIC and embedded US customers from this centre.

"Pune offers a large pool of talented engineers, strong base of excellent engineering collages and research institutes. Pune with proximity to Mumbai and Ahmedabad makes it an ideal choice for the company's expansion plans," said Tapan Joshi, vice president, marketing, E-Infochips.

The company has a state-of-the-art design centre employing over 200 design engineers in Ahmedabad providing solutions and services to leading technology companies.

"We are planning to end the current financial year with a turn over of six million US dollar, a growth of over 60 per cent as compared to last year. The company will target to achieve the CAGR growth rate of over 60 per cent every year for the next five year. Our proven methodology for offshore development projects has been a resounding success over the year and has been an important component in success of all the projects," said Joshi.
