Global firm Ernst and Young (E&Y) today said it has not been barred by any public authority from taking up consultancy projects in the power sector.
"There is no subsisting order of debarment against E&Y by any government authority or public sector undertaking," a spokesperson of the firm said.
According to sources, the consultancy firm was given a show-cause notice by the Power Ministry in connection with the valuation of bids for Rs 20,000-crore Sasan ultra mega power project.
The notice had asked E&Y to explain why it should not be barred from taking up consultancy projects after discrepancies were found during evaluation of bids by the firm for the Sasan project.
The consultancy firm, thereafter, went to the Delhi High Court and obtained a stay against the proceedings by the Power Ministry. The case is still pending with the High Court.
It is also learnt the E&Y had earlier got a stay from the Delhi High Court against a debarment order issued by the Power Finance Corporation where the Power Ministry was also a party.
The report of the committee led by PS Bami, a former Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC and a sectoral expert, had reportedly raised certain queries over the evaluation of bids for the Sasan ultra-mega power project in Madhya Pradesh.
