EcoSecurities, one of the leading originators, developers and traders in carbon credit, organised a workshop on "Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)", here today.

The workshop, which was organised with the support of the Global Opportunities Fund (GOF), British High Commission, was part of the "CDM Awareness to Action" project implemented by EcoSecurities with support from GOF.

"The project would undertake awareness building activities in the SME sector in Rajasthan, highlighting the benefits of CDM and encouraging potential projects to be considered under this process. This workshop is the first in a series of workshops which will focus on different sectors," EcoSecurities Head (India) Pranab Nahar said.

"EcoSecurities believes that this workshop will help SMEs in developing additional revenue through the CDM process and create sustainable development in Rajasthan," Nahar added.

He said EcoSecurities' "Call for Projects" was a unique initiative to create awareness and interest in developing CDM projects in Rajasthan. There has been little focus on the carbon market despite the fact that it constitutes about 40 per cent of Indian industry.
