The Fourteenth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate has granted permission to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), a central government wing, to record the statements of the accused in the Satyam scam from June 9 to 16.

The ED would question Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju, his brother and former managing director B Rama Raju, former chief financial officer Srinivas Vadlamani and Price Waterhouse auditors S Gopalakrishnan and Talluri Srinivas from 10 am to 5 pm for eight days in the presence of their defence counsels at the Chanchalguda jail, where the accused are under judicial custody. The ED had filed an application on April 6 in the court, seeking permission to record the statements of Ramalinga Raju and the other accused under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The ED petition had charged the accused with money laundering.

Earlier, various agencies, including the CBI, Sebi, SFIO, ICAI and Andhra Pradesh CID had interrogated Raju.

Another petition filed by the CBI, seeking the court’s permission to administer lie-detection tests on the accused, will be heard on June 16 so as to allow the ED to record statements.
