Educomp net rises on better margins

Educomp Solutions' net profit jumped 113.25 per cent to Rs 8.21 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2006, compared with the previous corresponding quarter's figure.

The revenues of the e-learning enabler company also surged 117.26 per cent to Rs 27.57 crore for the third quarter for 2006-07 compared with last year's revenue for the same period.

The company's EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) stood at Rs 15.82 crore, up 117.20 per cent over the corresponding quarter a year earlier.

"We have had an excellent quarter and have expanded dramatically in almost all our business segments, especially 'Smart Class' "� the business segment that caters to private schools. We have recorded year-on-year revenue jump of 192 per cent," Managing Director Shantanu Prakash said.

"Margins have been the highlight of this quarter. Our EBITDA margins have risen 57 per cent. For the year 2005-06, they were 51 per cent for the company," he added.
