One of the fundamental challenges in delivering quality education in India is a shortage of qualified and competent teachers in millions of schools. While virtual classrooms are not a new phenomenon in India, Edutel has designed a solution that allows highly-customised and tailored content to be delivered by competent teachers broadcasting from central studios and beamed to multiple classrooms in government and low-fee private schools. The Edutel technology is a patented, satellite-based, two-way-communication-enabled infrastructure that leverages a network of satellites and ground studios set up by the Government of India and made available for use at a low cost for the purpose of education and college entrance exam preparation.
"Edutel has been working as a partner with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation for over three years in delivering Satellite & Advanced Multimedia Education to affordable private and public schools for the benefit of thousands of urban poor children.
The support and inputs by the foundation in the preliminary days helped us to grow sooner, yet without losing the social focus. The foundation coming on board as an investor will strengthen us further and shall help us expand critical infrastructure needed to educate underprivileged students on a pan-India level," said Soorya K N, Director, Edutel.
