Eicher Polaris expects nation-wide presence for PUV Multix by mid 2017

The company would also look at exports market in a later stage

Eicher Polaris Pvt Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture between Eicher Motors and Polaris Industries, is planning to expand its market for Multix, a personal utility vehicle (PUV), nation-wide by mid 2017, and also look at exports to India-like markets in future. At present, the company has presence in eight locations, with 30 dealerships, in select parts of the country.

Radhesh Chandra Verma, CEO of Eicher Polaris Pvt Ltd said, "We are looking at being national in two years. We might also look at the market outside India, in the India-like markets." He added that the primary focus for the company is domestic market and plans for exports would be looked at only in a later stage.

At present the company has 30 dealers, with four sectors including Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan and Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Multix, which the company claims as the first PUV, is targeting an estimated population of 5.8 crore independent businessmen, offers three utilities in one vehicle - family, business and power.

The company's manufacturing facility in Jaipur currently has a capacity of 60,000 units, which could be increased to 1.2 lakh units in future. It has invested around Rs 350 crore into the manufacturing capacity and research and development (R&D).

He said that the dealers are also service points and it also has mobile service vehicles to assist its customers.
