Sugar manufacturer EID Parry (India) Ltd today reported that its net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 rose by 16.09% at Rs 112.25 crore.
The company in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) said its net profit in the year-ago period stood at Rs 96.69 crore.
Total profits of the company in the 2010-11 fiscal, however, fell by almost 21% to Rs 312.28 crore as compared to Rs 393.60 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The company's total income in the quarter ended March 31, 2011 rose by 11.35% to Rs 1,919.05% as against Rs 1,723% in the year-ago period.
Similarly, the total income of the Chennai-based company in FY11 rose by 22.42% to Rs 9,363.10 crore as compared to Rs 7,647.91 crore in the same period of the previous year.
EID Parry is engaged in manufacture and marketing of sugar, alcohol, bio-products and nutraceuticals.
It has five sugar plants with a combined crushing capacity of 15,800 tonnes of cane per day.
Shares of the company today closed at Rs 235.30, which is 2.32% lower than its previous close at the BSE.
