EIH has posted a net profit of Rs 17.06 crore in Q1FY06 as compared to a net loss of Rs 4.69 crore in Q1FY05. Total income has increased to Rs 155.67 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 from Rs 121.58 crore in Q1FY05.P R S Oberoi, chairman of EIH, said "Travel and Tourism is a leading sector driving economies in many countries. Without the benefits that tourism brings to their respective economies, these countries would not have witnessed the economic growth that they enjoy today. I am happy that due recognition has been given to the Travel and Tourism industry in India. This has emanated from the highest quarters of the Government. We have now begun to move in the right direction."
