The company attributed the strong performance to the strong performance of its new launches like 'HE' Deodorant, Fair and Handsome Instant Fairness Facewash, Emami 7 Oils in One Damage Control Hair Oil and Zandu Balm Ultra Power. "The third quarter witnessed a strong domestic business that grew at a robust pace, registering a handsome topline growth of 18.2%," a company statement said. Net sales for the company stood at Rs 692.26 crore a growth of 18.4% from Rs 584.57 crore in the year ago period.
The company cited Nielsen data saying that major brands of the company like Navratna Cooling Oil, balms Boroplus and Fair and handsome gained market share. Falling prices of raw materials helped the company to raise its EBITDA margin by 19.7%. Emami spent Rs 119.25 crore on ad spends for brand building and marketing of its products.
"We have continued to focus on strengthening our brands in the market place and have leveraged the softening of raw material prices to our advantage. Our Healthcare Division also continues to perform strongly with Zandu Panchrishta and Vigorex leading the growth and we wish to make Zandu a formidable brand in the healthcare & wellbeing space," said Harsh Agarwal, director at Emami.
During the quarter, the company's international business grew by 20.6%. Emami recently acquired a 66.67% stake in Australian personal and organic care firm, Fravin Pty Ltd.
