Emami has recorded a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 39 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010, an increase of 44 per cent over the same period last year, led by all-round growth from its power brands. Turnover at 280 crore saw an increase of 19.7 per cent.
For the year ended March 31, 2010, profit after tax was at Rs 170 crore, an increase of 85 per cent while turnover grew by 35.8 per cent to Rs 1,038 crore. Institutional sales grew by 55 per cent to Rs 43 crore and international business by 36 per cent to Rs 133 crore.
The company has attributed the growth to its power brands like Fair and Handsome, Boroplus Antiseptic Cream, Navratna Oil, Zandu and Menthoplus Balm and other products. New products—Navratna Cool Talc, Navratna Extra Thanda Oil, Boroplus Body Lotion and Malai Kesar Cold Cream—also showed significant growth, said the company.
