EMC expands in India, to increase market share by 2009

Outlining its new Go-To-Market strategy in India, information infrastructure solutions provider EMC has highlighted realignment, people, presence, portfolio and partners to expand its base. The company has 25 per cent market share of the $284 million (Rs 1244.7 crore) external storage market and plans to increase it by 2009.

To expand its geographical presence, the company plans to strengthen its offereings for the small office/home office (SOHO) segment in India and Saarc for which it is opening offices in Ahmedabad and Pune. EMC has also identified 20 clusters comprising 40 cities to expand its base through its partner network.

Its current partner network consists of 100 tier I and tier II cities which the company intends to increase to 200 by 2009. For the company, Telecom, BFSI, IT,ITeS are the fastest growing and it also plans to enter in emerging segments like retail, government and pharmaceuticals.
