Empee Distelleries, the flagship arm of the Empee Group, has reported a 27 per cent growth in net profit to Rs 17.09 crore for the nine-month period ended March 2010, over Rs 10.12 crore in the year-ago period.
The total income grew to Rs 851.48 crore from Rs 665.33 crore in the corresponding period last year, the company said in a statement here.
The Empee board has recommended a dividend of Rs 6 per share for the year ended March 2010.
The company said its power division had its first full year of operation this year and earned a profit of Rs 1.38 crore against a loss of Rs 8.42 crore last year.
On Empee Sugars and Chemicals it said the greenfield integrated sugar complex at Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu (consisting of 5,000 TCD sugar plant), 50MW co-generation plant has started commercial operations during the year.
The company has entered into an agreement with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to sell 25 per cent of the excess power produced over and above captive consumption and the balance 75 per cent to any third parties.
