Leading cellular service provider Bharti Tele-Ventures Ltd has awarded a $15 million equipment contract to Swedish telecoms company Ericsson.

The order is for providing intelligent network (IN) solution and prepaid system for all of Bharti Tele's existing and proposed networks.

The intelligent network and charging solutions for Bharti is part of an end-to-end solution from Ericsson where consulting and systems integration services make it all work seamlessly in Bharti's existing environment.

"Ericsson's intelligent network based charging solution will enable Bharti to offer converged services to its post-paid and pre-paid subscribers in the near future," Jan Campbell, Head, Ericsson market unit India, said.

This deal further reinforces the long term partnership between the companies covering infrastructure and telecom services, he said.

Ericsson is a leading provider for charging solutions to customers across 70 countries.

Sunil Mittal-promoted Bharti had earlier placed a $400 million equipment and maintenance order with Ericsson.
