Essar, GVK and British Gas are among the companies that have expressed interest in taking capacity at the Dabhol LNG terminal.

"We have floated an Expression of Interest (EoI) seeking companies who wish to take capacity in (the) Dabhol terminal on tolling basis. The interest (is) under submission," RK Goel, Chairman, Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt Ltd (RGPPL), the owner of the Dabhol power and LNG terminal.

He said several companies have shown interest and the prominent among them being Essar, GVK, BG, Mahanagar Gas Ltd and some oil marketing companies (OMCs).

"By (the middle of April), we would have all the bids in place and should be able to arrive at the appropriate tolling charge. We will decide on giving capacity thereafter," he said.

RGPPL is looking at leasing out capacity in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal as it has been allocated gas from RIL's eastern offshore KG-D6 field to fire the 2,150 MW power plant in Maharashtra.

Goel said the terminal would be commissioned around mid-April and a spot LNG cargo will be imported at Dabhol to commission the plant.
