The company's pipeline division has received $56 million nickel slurry pipeline project in Madagascar, Africa. This project is scheduled to be completed within 13 months.
When contacted a company spokesperson declined to comment. "The pipeline will transport nickel ore in slurry form from Ambatovy nickel cobalt mining ore to the port of Taomasina from where it will be exported. While SNC Lavalin, Canada is the EPCM contractor for the project, Essar will execute this pipeline project along with consolidated contractors group SAL, Greece," said an industry source.
The company has already started shifting its resources in terms of manpower and equipment to Madagascar to execute this project, the sources added.
According to the sources, "On its part, ECIL will execute 95.38 km out of the total 240 km of the pipeline."
The scope of work comprises pipeline and construction engineering as well as laying and construction of the pipeline, together with two numbers of HDD operation across Riyanla (400 m) and Ivondro (1100 m) rivers.
