It will offer both voice and non-voices services for Aegis customers in India and will work with the Chennai centre as a hub-and-spoke model. The Chennai centre currently is staffed with 720 people.

According to industry sources, the new centre saw an investment of around Rs 8 crore, excluding the cost of land.

This will be the second centre for Aegis in Tamil Nadu.

“Aegis has always been a front runner in exploring the benefits of impact sourcing by having delivery centres in Tier-II and III locations. The model offers tangible and intangible benefits to support the thriving domestic market, which requires mainstream BPMs to be more cost effective, provide diversity of locations, skills and capabilities. Aegis Sivaganga will reinforce this strategy of ensuring local communities are a part of the work force,” said Sandip Sen, global CEO, Aegis Ltd.

Sudhir Agarwal, president, global M&A and strategy, Aegis, said the company has been steadily expanding its footprint in Indian BPO market and the launch of this facility strengthens our footprint in southern India.

As part of its Aegis Elite initiative, Aegis launched its delivery centre in Chhindwada, Madhya Pradesh, and has scaled up operations to over 700 people in less than one year. Similarly in Srinagar, it has scaled up to 500 people. Jamshedpur center, which was launched in 2008, today is about 3,000 people.
