Essar Projects today said it has won Rs 286 crore contract from the Gujarat government for laying a pipeline system, which is a part of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Canal-based drinking water supply project.
"Essar Projects, India's second-largest EPC company, was awarded the Rs 286 crore contract from Gujarat Water Infrastructure to engineer, procure, construct and commission (EPCC) a 2,300 mm x 51 km water pipeline system," the company said in a statement.
The project, scheduled for completion in a year, is a part of the ambitious Bulk Water Transmission System Project being implemented by the Gujarat government.
It is one of the eight packages of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Canal-based drinking water supply project, which aims at supplying water to seven districts of Saurashtra, Kachchh region and parts of Ahemdabad, Sabarakantha, Mehsana districts of North Gujarat and Panchmahals.
"Essar Projects has been successfully bidding and winning new business in the open market. This award from GWIL is a testimony to our competitive capabilities in the EPC space," Essar Projects Director, Business Development, M S Ambegaonkar said.
The company, with a strong presence in India, said it is increasingly expanding its global footprint. "Currently, the company is bidding as well as executing multi-million dollar contracts in SE Asia, Australasia, West Asia & Africa," it said.
EPL, an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor operates through eight specialised business units -- power, hydrocarbons, civil and buildings, minerals and metals, offshore and subsea, pipelines and terminals, ports and jetties, and heavy engineering.
