Steel major Essar Steel today said it has clocked its highest-ever monthly crude steel production at 3.8-lakh tonne in March, up 24.04%, as compared to 3.07-lakh tonne in the year-ago period.
The company's finished steel production also rose--25.41% at 3.97-lakh tonne-- in March this year as against 3.17-lakh tonne in the year-ago period, a release issued here stated.
Essar Steel is close to completing its expansion of steel-making capacity to 10 million tonne per annum.
As a part of this expansion, Essar Steel has already commissioned two iron making units.
On completion of the expansion, Essar Steel will be the largest flat steel producer in a single location in the country, the release said.
Further, the company also recently commissioned India’s first 5-m wide plate mill with a capacity of 1.5 million tonne per annum, it said.
