Essar Shipping has completed an audit for compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. |
The company has said in a media release that it has successfully completed verification audit on January 22 on two of its ships"" MT Nandu and MT Nand Hari for complying with the code. |

The audit was carried out by the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) who are authorised by the directorate-general of shipping. |

The ISPS Code is a mandatory international security regulation for ships and port facilities wordlwide, which comes into effect from July 1, 2004 as per the stipulation of the International Maritime Organisation. |

The code has been evolved in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks in the US. |
