Enthused by the good response to the Fun Republic, the first and only multiplex in the city, the Essel Corporate Group plans to go ahead with more such ventures in Punjab.

The company is looking for locations for more such multiplexes in different cities of Punjab and may set up more than one in some cities.

"The Punjab market is very lucrative for us as people here have limited entertainment facilities," Ashish Kaul, vice-president, Corporate Brand Development, Essel Group, told Business Standard.

He disclosed that the Essel Group was also planning to set up a 'theme park' in North India (like Essel World in Mumbai), and Punjab would be the company's first choice for this venture.

He said the company was also interested in setting up a 'technology valley' in Punjab with the help of the state government.

According to Kaul, Zee's recently-launched direct-to-home (DTH) services have received a good response in North Inida, and the network has been adding 800-900 subscribers every day in the whole of this region.

Kaul said the company was also into the manufacture of lami tubes, supplied to almost all toothpaste manufacturers in India. The tubes are produced at 18 factories in the world, of which 5 are in India, catering to the domestic market only.

He added that the company has 30 a per cent global marketshare under the brand name of Essel Propack Limited.
