Eveready Industries has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BPL for the acquisition of BPL Soft Energy Systems - the makers of dry cell batteries and flashlights - for Rs 67 crore.According to a release issued by Eveready to the BSE today, the consideration for the acquisition is Rs 45 crore and assumption of net liabilities (including term loans and bank borrowings) for a sum not exceeding Rs 22 crore."It is envisaged that the transaction would be completed not later than October 28, 2005," the release added. BPL Soft's factory at Maddur, Karnataka has a capacity of 240 million pieces of dry cell batteries per annum, the release added.
