Exide, Granules India & Tata Elxsi Q4 Results

Buoyed by the bullish automotive market, Exide Industries has posted 59.25 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 25.8 crore for the quarter ended March 2006 compared with Rs 16.2 crore in the corresponding period of 2004-05. Turnover stood at Rs 490 crore, up 24.7 per cent higher than the year-ago period.
 
For the full year ended March 2006, the company's net profit rose 30.34 per cent to Rs 100.7 crore compared with Rs 77.2 crore last year.
 
Granules India net up 58%
 
The Hyderabad-based Granules India's (GIL) net profit grew 58 per cent to Rs 2.79 crore for the third quarter ended March 2006 from Rs 1.77 crore in the corresponding previous quarter. The company turnover of Rs 44.88 crore from Rs 39.04 crore, registering growth of 15 per cent.
 
The rise in net profit was primarily due to better realisation and increased contribution from PFIs, a company press release said. For the nine-month period ended March 2006, the company's sales rose 31 per cent to Rs 132.59 crore.
 
Tata Elxsi net up 41.37%
 
Tata Elxsi has posted net profit of Rs 11.55 crore for the quarter ended March 2006, growing 41.37 per cent compared with Rs 8.17 crore reported in the previous corresponding quarter. The company's total income has gone up from Rs 52.80 crore to Rs 71.12 crore, a growth of 34.69 per cent.
 
For the full year ended March 2006 the company posted net profit of Rs 34.32 crore, up 30.54 per cent over Rs 26.29 crore reported last year. Total income increased from Rs 186.85 crore to Rs 236.31 crore, up 26.47 per cent. The board of directors has recommended a dividend of 65 per cent on the paid-up capital of the company for the year ended March 2006.
