State-owned Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) today said it has reported a dip in its total sales turnover in the 2009-10 fiscal to Rs 2,116 crore as against Rs 2,169 crore in the previous fiscal.
The sales turnover could not be surpassed due to fall in prices of raw material which resulted in corresponding reduction in sales realisation, FACT said said in a statement released here.
With substantial improvement in overall performance, the company could contain the operating loss to Rs 62 crore during FY10 against Rs 178 crore during the previous year.
However, with an extraordinary income of Rs 221 crore, FACT had declared a profit of Rs 43 crore last year.
During the January-March quarter this year, the company earned a net profit of Rs 93 lakh.
Production of Factamfos, the premium product of the firm, touched 7,53,744 tonnes during the fiscal ending March 2010, as against 6,05,047 tonnes during FY'09, while production of Ammonium Sulphate touched 1,79,546 tonnes against last year's 1,28,845 tonnes.
Caprolactum production increased to 42,006 tonnes as against 13,548 tonnes in the previous year.
On the sales front, FACT's performance was encouraging during the 2009-10 fiscal, the release said.
Total sale of Factamfos was 7,26,985 tonnes, which was only 6,05,828 tonnes during the preceding year. Sale of Ammonium Sulphate also picked up momentum with a total sale of 1,44,906 tonnes during the 2009-10 fiscal, which was 1,17,941 tonnes in the previous year.
There was a huge leap in the sale of caprolactum, which touched 38,253 tonnes as against 12,291 tonnes in the preceding year. Export of caprolactum also improved considerably with a total outflow of 9,571 tonnes as against 3,842 tonnes exported during 2008-09.
FACT's trading in imported fertilisers also fared well with a total import of 82,657 tonnes of urea and 70,032 tonnes of muriate of potash (MOP) as against 71,040 tonnes and 19,805 tonnes, respectively, in FY09, the statement said.
