Farnell forays into India, eyes Rs 100 cr revenue

"We are looking at India revenue of Rs 100 crore by 2011", said Ravi Pagar, the Managing Director of Farnell Electronic India, the company's the fully-owned Indian subsidiary.    

Pagar said the company has so far invested Rs 15 crore in India and is looking to invest an additional Rs 20 crore, as it plans to double the headcount in India to 80 by this year end accross field sales, marketing, customer support and contact centre operations.    

Currently, Farnell Eelectronics India's operations are spread across seven major electronics cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Chennai.    

Reen said Farnell plans to consolidate its presence in India and engage more closely with its key customers, the rapidly growing segment of electronic design engineers, through a focus on multi-channel approach including field sales, contact centre web and knowledge centres.    

"Farnell India's focus is to be recognised as the premier multi-channel global electronics distributor for the Design Engineer in India", she said.

The company offers customers a one-stop shop with fast, easy access to over 4,30,000 stocked products from over 3,500 suppliers and provides a range of value added services, officials said.
